Google has unveiled a new feature called Search Live, a real-time, voice-based search experience that lets users talk to AI, get spoken answers, and access relevant links—all within the Google app on Android and iOS. Available now in limited beta in the U.S., Search Live is part of the AI Mode in Google’s Search Labs.

What Is Search Live?
Search Live allows users to search the web simply by speaking. No typing required—just ask a question out loud, and Google's AI will respond with spoken answers and useful links from across the web.
Think of it as a conversation with Google Search.
Key Features
Real-time voice interaction with AI
AI-generated audio responses (not just text-to-speech)
Multitask-friendly: Works while using other apps or when the screen is locked
Search history & chat transcripts accessible via AI Mode
How to Use Search Live
To try Search Live, follow these steps:
1. Sign in with a personal Google account (not Workspace)
2. Join AI Mode via Search Labs
3. Open the Google app (Android or iOS)
4. Tap the “Live” icon under the search bar
5. Start asking your question by voice
6 Listen to the AI’s reply and view related links on screen
Use It While Doing Other Things
Search Live works even while you’re:
Chatting in other apps
Browsing social media
Or with the screen locked
Simply swipe up to minimize the window, and manage the mic or end the conversation via notifications (just ensure Google app notifications are enabled).
Limitations & Requirements
Only available to users aged 18+
Does not support Workspace or school accounts
Currently supports English only
Available only in the U.S. (for now)
AI answers may not always be accurate—fact-check when needed
A New Way to Search
Search Live signals a shift in how we interact with information—hands-free, voice-first, and AI-powered. It’s ideal for multitaskers, visually impaired users, or anyone who prefers talking over typing.
If you’re interested in smarter, more conversational search, Search Live might be worth trying—especially as Google continues refining the future of AI-powered information access.
