Google is ushering in a new era of online search by integrating advanced AI and intelligent chatbots into Google Search. This allows users to ask more complex questions and receive expert-like answers—opening new doors for brands and businesses to connect with potential customers at the moment they need them most.

What is AI Mode on Google Search?
Google has introduced a new feature called "AI Mode" — a search experience that feels more like a conversation with an expert. Users can ask long, complex questions and receive clear, structured answers, along with links for further exploration.
For example, if you search:
“How can I build a small business website on a budget?”
Google will respond with a step-by-step guide, including platform recommendations, marketing tips, and steps for launching and testing your site.
AI Overviews: AI Summaries on Search Results Pages
Google also launched AI Overviews, a feature that summarizes information from multiple sources right on the search results page—eliminating the need to click through multiple links. This feature is already being used more than 1.5 billion times per month globally, increasing searches by over 10% in the U.S. and India.
While early versions included some odd suggestions—like recommending people eat a rock a day—Google has since improved the accuracy and usefulness of the responses.
A New Opportunity for Businesses and Advertisers
Perhaps most importantly, ads are not disappearing—they’re being intelligently integrated into AI Mode and AI Overviews. For example, if a user is searching for how to build a website, Google may suggest ads for website builder tools that match that intent.
Currently, Google displays ads in AI Overviews on mobile devices and is expanding this to desktop in the U.S. and select countries later this year. Ads from Performance Max, Shopping, and broad match Search campaigns can now appear directly within AI-powered results.
Google’s New Direction: From Search to “Conversation”
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, says that integrating Gemini (Google’s AI chatbot) into Search marks the beginning of a "new era of search" — moving beyond keywords into true conversational answers.
Google also teased exciting upcoming projects, including:
AI-powered smart glasses in collaboration with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster
Subscription-based AI services to compete with Meta and its Ray-Ban smart glasses
Why Your Business Should Adapt Now
With Google transforming search into an AI-driven conversational experience, businesses must adapt their digital strategy. AI Mode and AI Overviews allow users to ask deeper, more complex questions—and get fast, relevant answers. Ads are now woven into these AI results, giving businesses a greater chance to reach customers at the right moment.
If your business uses Google ads, especially Performance Max or Search campaigns, you’re already positioned to benefit. If not, now is the time to update your strategy to align with the future of search—so you don’t miss out on growth opportunities.
